Take Your First Steps to Longevity

If you want to make healthy changes and improve your life, the best way is to start taking small steps. First, you need to acknowledge what a healthy life will mean to you. Do you want more time with your your favorite activities? Of course you do. Realize this and then start your journey one easy step at a time.
Turn your health into a hobby. Find new innovative ways to move, either by switching exercise routines, going hiking or shopping (which is a hike anyway), or, if it’s raining, at least read a health blog or magazine to get more ideas for your next outdoor adventure. In any case, making your health your hobby will help change the way you think .
Health is different for each person so focus on what makes you happy and find a way to make it healthy. Taking gradual steps to reach a particular goal is a great way to transition into taking ownership of your health and longevity.
Some other ways of making that healthy change may be to garden (more herbs/spices = better health!), mow the lawn more frequently, jump rope, hula hoop, go shopping for a couple of hours at an outdoor mall, walk down the isles of your favorite market place or shoot hoops with the neighbors next door.
Even meditating once or twice a week has tremendous mental and physical benefits! Other ideas: Take a walk in nature for just 10 minutes; or a warm salt bath to relieve stress; watch a funny movie with the family; buy a fruit smoothie instead of that milk shake; try a new (low-carb) dish once a week; or simply come home, turn off the phone, TV or computer and go into the most relaxing part of your home and just
focus on breathing evenly. You’d be surprised how disconnecting for a few minutes per day to catch your breath will decrease your stress (and cortisol) levels.
Everyone’s lifestyle is different, but we can all turn our health into a hobby in some way. No matter what it is, the most important steps are self-awareness followed by small, conscious steps towards a more individualized healthy lifestyle.
