WHEN THE BODY STORES TOO MUCH TOXINS
It is a fact that the human body is self-cleaning. It has different organs that work to slough off old cells and toxins. However, if there is too much additional toxins in the body, elimination can become a problem.
Here are some examples of the extra toxins that we unconsciously take in every day:
Pesticides and herbicides found in plant foods sources
Chemical preservatives and additives found in processed foods
Drugs and medicines
Air pollution
Additionally, the presence of intestinal worms can also bring on an overload of toxins.
With too much toxins in the body, the liver experiences difficulties in eliminating them. It has no choice but to keep the dangerous toxins away from the main body system by storing it in fat tissue, joints and muscles.
Meanwhile, if the colon has trouble eliminating toxins due to constipation, the toxins are absorbed by the blood. This leads to autointoxication or toxicosis.
Additionally, stored toxins from foods make the body resistant to insulin. Insulin, a hormone found in the pancreas, has a profound effect on the metabolism. When the body is unable to absorb it, it cannot metabolize fat as fuel.
But aside from weight gain, insulin resistance results to a more devastating health condition – type 2 diabetes.
THE BENEFITS OF CLEANSING
There is a good reason why cleansing has become a huge trend. Not only are they refreshing and gentle, but they also build the body up. They strengthen the immune systems and are packed with antioxidants that help fight infection. Plus, they give our energy levels a much-needed boost.
WHAT MAKES SOUP CLEANSES DIFFERENT?
In colder months, juice cleanses might not be so appealing. So, how can you cleanse during the winter season? We have a delicious idea you will surely love.
Unlike juice cleanses which contain fruits, soup cleanses rely primarily on vegetables so they are very low on the glycemic index. They are packed with lots of fiber that help maintain weight after the post-holiday indulgence.
CREAMY KALE SOUP CLEANSE
To complete the soup cleanse, you will need a high-speed blender and a glass mason jar to store the soup. It will be great to stock up on water, coconut water or herbal teas to maximize your hydration.
Some herbs can be added to maximize your results: ginger root, garlic, dandelion root, parley, oregano and olive leaves. You may also mix in some oils too like coconut oil, olive oil, grape seed extract oil and avocado oil.
This soup cleanse recipe is best to try for lunch and creates two servings. It can also be substituted with spinach.
Ingredients
1 bunch kale
1 avocado
½ cup coconut water or coconut milk
1 cup frozen or fresh peas
5 basil leaves
1 lemon, juiced
1 ½ teaspoon sea salt
Hemp seeds (garnish)

To make the soup, simply blend the ingredients using a high-speed blender. Blend until smooth and garnish with hemp seeds and dulse flakes before serving.
