For women with autoimmune conditions and other chronic conditions this is a big issue that must be addressed. The aging process is going by each and every day of our lives! As women in this busy world, stopping the clock is not an option, so we need to stay healthy and take care of ourselves first. The go-go-go mentality is now ingrained in most people these days. Often we feel the need to copy the same society mindset, but it comes with severe consequences - potentially premature aging. There is no way you can turn around the aging process, but it’s never too late to begin to work on delaying it!
1. Start working NOW to take care of yourself as you age: Taking care of yourself now will help slow down the aging process. A person can do many things to take care of their health as they get older. Sustaining the body with proper vitamins, minerals, fresh herbs, spices, organic meats and vegetables will provide your body with the proper repair tools. A well-balanced lifestyle will lessen the dangers and the risk of you getting some of the chronic diseases that you can acquire as you age. Diet alone doesn’t sustain a woman’s body with the vitamins and minerals to maintain a health body. In fact, research states that millions of people suffer from malnutrition despite the fact that they eat three healthy meals per day! What needs to be understood is a healthy lifestyle is key to maintaining a balanced well-being.
Maybe you’re a woman who eats many processed foods because of your busy lifestyle, and there's just no time to cook the right meals. Processed foods are very harmful to women with autoimmune and/or chronic conditions. There are always better restaurant options that are fast and convenient. So it’s very important to do your research ahead of time. Instead, take time to fix a healthy meal and sit down to enjoy it! Doing something positive in your life and health will also benefit your family’s well-being in the long run.
2. Stop worrying about everyone else: Take time out for YOU. Stress is bad for your heart, which affects your blood pressure, nervous system, and hormone levels. It’s also hard on your body in general. Stress can cause many things, even causing a person to become obese, lack energy, become anxious, depressed or it can cause panic attacks. Women juggle their work, home life, children and a spouse in their daily lives. It is very easy to get lost in transition and eventually get overwhelmed. Worrying about your family is important, but when this becomes a chronic issue where you worry constantly about others’ life problems, quarrels, or rumors at work, this can adversely affect your health.
3. Try doing a little daily meditation; and yoga can make a world of difference in staying healthy as you age: This seems easier said than done, I know. Any bit of exercise you do on a daily basis is better than doing none at all. As a busy woman its important to exercise at least three times a week for 15-30 minutes. A person has many options when it comes to exercise today. It can be done on in your backyard, at a friend’s home, at work (during lunch break, of course) or at a gym. Walking is also a great way to reduce stress of daily life as well. Today, there are just so many exercise options to choose from to reduce stress.
A meditative practice consisting of complete relaxation for at least 5 minutes per day can also make a HUGE difference in your stress levels and well-being. Certainly you can find 5 minutes in your busy day to disconnect and focus completely on simple relaxation.
4. How happiness makes you live a longer life: Happiness is another way to stay healthy as you age. If you are not happy, find out why and turn it around so that you will be. Being happy and with friends is always a good way to keep the stress away, too. Don’t let yourself get depressed and down; it will make your aging come upon you sooner than you want, and it can cause you to be a very sick person. Depression is a sickness that begets ill health. Kick as much negative energy away from you, and focus on positivity.
Again, there is no magic anti-aging pill, so stay in good health and slow down the process! Keep yourself happy, exercise and take essential vitamins and minerals. Staying active helps keeps the stress down, keep you stronger and you’ll feel better for doing it!
