But the paleo diet also means that you can eat however much you want without restricting yourself, or counting calories. After all, early humans didn’t count calories! Studies have shown that eating simpler food leads to eating less, which in turn helps you lose weight without effort.

The paleo diet is also easy to follow. First, you pick a protein – meat or fish – and supplement it with non-starchy vegetables, and add your carbohydrates by choosing root vegetables or fruit. You still need some fat, which you get from the meat.
